THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU Guys!!
Those were awesome ideas, particularly the office type shops! I searched and searched and I finally did find somewhere that would work shipping wise! Reptiletubs.com!!!
They have two boxes I'm interested in! the cb-110 and the other one that is 37"x22"x6"! I'm so happy!
Oh and to the person who suggested I look at other brands.. I just couldn't find any other brand that had a length of at LEAST 36" that had the other dimensions in a good ratio... It's shocking there are not more LARGE boxes out there! Oh well, thank goodness for iris!
Now I just need help with figuring out the last bit of my rack design...
What heat tape should I go with 4" or 11"?
Factors I need to consider...
If I almost completely cover the back wall with heat tape, will there be enough ventilation in the boxes? I plan to put lots of airholes in the containers but consider that there will be only 1" on either sides of the boxes and the frame of the rack.
If I do do the back wall method, will it be able to provide a large enough "warm side" to the containers, considering that the width of the shelves is going to be 24" and most tubs will be using 22" of that?
Maybe I should consider just putting a line of tape on each shelf. But the problem is, if I use 11" tape then almost half of the tub would be directly over the tape. If I use 4" tape that would mean that only about 1/5th of container would be over the "warm spot"... Would that be enough?
Keep in mind I would like to turn off or at least turn the electric heat in the room that the snakes will be in waaaaaaaay down. Thus the room temp will likely be quite cool in the winter. In the summer I am betting I will be able to turn the heat tape off all together most days! But anyway, maybe cool room temp will factor in the to the 11" tape on shelf method. ie. the cool side right near the front of the container could end up being quite a bit cooler if I put lots of airholes in the front/viewing side..
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, anyone with experience or even things I have not thought about SPEAK UP!
Thanks
Rebecca
