My dad is making me a Viv for my corn. He is cheap and decided he could make better Viv for half the price. My only concern is that he only has planned to have a total of 4, 2in holes for the ventilation. is this enough for the Viv (it is going to be just a little better than a 20l)?
 
Nothing wrong with being cheap. Especially with the prices of cages. I think if everybody on this board had the skill to make their own viv, they would.

You sure they're 2-inch holes? A snake would probably get through those no problem. Make sure they have a screen or something over them. Anyway, I would think 4 of those would be fine. The snake isn't going to suffocate even with just a few tiny holes. You just want to make sure you don't have it closed-off so much that it traps too much humidity.
 
don't worry about the snake excaping. we already bought some screening to put over the holes.
 
Instead of mesh use the soft fit vents that you can get for any DIY store or some places sell special reptile ones. If the snake rubs it's nose on the mesh it could damage it's self.

What are you using to build it? Remember pine and cedar are no good. I suggest MFC (melamine faced chipboard). And white hardboard for the back screwed, not nailed if possible.

Also get toughened safety glass. After an incident in the reptile shop I would never use anything else.

I am going to build a 4ft by 2ft myself very soon so I have bee doing lots of research.
