hey everyone, :wavey: hope everyone had a nice xmas, :santa:
Just a quick probably dumb question but here goes, What is the best way to pick your snake up. And does everyone elses snake hide every time you lift the lid off and is it okay to pick his hide up out the way and then just pick him up?? i picked him up a couple of days ago well he made a run for it while i was changing his water and i just caught his tail then supported him properly he was okay then didn't go for me or nothin my heart was pounding though as he nearly got away and i was told not to handle him for the first 7 days so i was worried he might die or summats cos i touched him lol.
Any tips ??
cheers mark

It's best to pick em up from around the middle of their bodies so as they're well supported. If they're in a hide i just pick up the hide & without hesitating go straight in & scoop them up while they're still curled up. I'm new to snakes as well so i hope i'm right... :santa:

thanks for that i will go try now hopefullyhewon't run away lol i keep thinking if he bites me i'll lose my finger or summats lol :bang: i just been dumb he is much bigger than i thought i think he is about 6 months old he is quite long

i did it i don't who was more worried though Rocky or me :shrugs: i lifted his hide up he looked at me i froze then he made a run for it but i grabbed him as he was mid-air and wrestled with him on the floor until i was boss  well maybe not that dramatic, no he was ok he is long though and i got the wife to touch him she now wants to hold him tommorow so thats good and i gotta photo but i'll post them in the gallery they not that good i'll get some better one tommorow hopefully

The only thing i've been told is not to pick them up from above as they might think your pray going to eat them, bring your hand in at there level and keep handling sessions short and you new snake should settle in fine.
