Yeah, this is my third colony, and I've had problems with all of them. I think some babies were eaten as well. There were at least 12-15 pinks, I fed off 3 of them last week and there are only 6 fuzzies in there :shrugs:
 
Yeah, that does happen. In my one tank there was an older litter and 2 young litters. 2 days later there were only fuzzies, the pinkies had poofed into the night.

The other group has 3 mamas straddled over a potpourri of sizes. :grin01:
 
Awww, Mike, that's terrible:sobstory: . Mice can be so gruesome. Maybe they need more protein? Have you given them dog/cat food? Just throwing out ideas. Man your luck really does suck. Poor little mouse...
 
Yes, if I don't remove fuzzies or larger as soon as new pinks are born, I'll surely end up with no pinks. Some mothers just perceive the overcrowded nest and take matters into their own hands.

Sorry to hear about your luck. I have just never seen people have THIS much trouble with mice. Sure, I may have the occasional loss...but not like that.
 
Mike, you are cursed with your mice I guess.. I wish I could help by pawning of a few to you, but you are way over yonder Dude..

If that's the case, Mike, maybe you can give them some different cheeses. I'm not saying that because I'm from Wisconsin; I'm telling you this because we all know of the wonders of Cheeses of Nazareth. Especially the Crust.

Dang, sorry to hear about that Mike. I thought things were better for you in the mice department.

I found my first adult to adult cannibalism a couple weeks ago. Luckily, it was in the "feeder bin" where I'd grown up some weanlings for my adult corns. Don't know who the problem was, so they all met the CO2 chamber a few days sooner than later.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck you've had with those mice! I hope the Spiney mice are still doing okay for you... although, I'm sure that's not much consolation.
 
Thanks Joni, I'm really at my wits end with these domestics. Maybe I should change their diet and try the dog food :shrugs: The spinys are amazing, the first two babies are in their own container now, and Ma & Pa are still with the 3 from the 2nd litter. Ma looks a bit chubby again and if she gives birth, I'm afraid I will have to feed those off or I'll be overrun with the little "gyptians" :grin01:

Wits end?!... I'd be right there with you. Talk about frusterating. Don't know that I can help with the diet part much. I give mine rodent blocks with dog food or cheerios as treats once in a while.

Awww... glad the others are doing well. They are so dang cute!
