? for Florida corn owners about heat

CaptBogart

False Prophet
I usually leave my window open all the time (I like 75 - 80, roomates prefer 70) and during weather like we are having now the air isn't on yet. My corn tank (30LB) is staying around 75-85 during the day and around 72-75 at night (kings (20L) = 77-88/75-80 respectively) unassisted. Should I still need to keep the UTH on? Does anyone use assisted heat during the summer for a room that stays around 80 give or take 5 degrees?

Joe, I never use supplemental heat unless I have a problem feeder or a very young hatchling. One of the perks of living here!

same with me... i dont use anything unless we have those two days of cold weather... and in my visionartiums i have 11 watt bulbs so i can see them..LOL

Nooooooo not the evil Home Depot.. it takes me at least an hour to get out of that place... so many toys...

It might be warm and sunny ( I got a nice tan yesterday :grin01:) but the traffic sucks (old Canadians drive 5 MPH below the speed limit must be the metric conversion or something) and the glow eminating off all those white tourists at the beach is just blinding... :laugh01:

He,he, oh to be one of those pale-faced dudes looking dumb & driving on the wrong side of the road.......... :crazy02:

no palm beach traffic doesnt compare in season. You have all the old folks who cant see over the steering wheel and drive 10mph below and cant decide which lane to pick. I also love when they have their blinker on for 15 min then realize they need to turn (merge, change lanes) in the other direction. ugh

Well, since we went totaly :-offtopic the worse thing of all are the people that slam on their brakes when the light turns yellow. I've been all over the US and Florida has the longest yellow lights I've ever seen... those granny lights were made for running... I even have them timed where if I'm within two telephone poles from the intersection I can make it perfectly, three, punch it... I do like the fact that you can make a U-Turn about every 200 ft. though, that's rare in other states too, we call it the A Lane (Alzheimer)... "I may have Alzheimer's.... but at least I don't have Alzheimer's"... :crazy02:

Hey it's been cold here lately, it isn't ALL sun and warmth.

To answer the question, I've never used heat other than the occasional red light to warm up the temps after a feed if I'm uncomfortable with my room temps during that time.

i dont think it gets as cold down here as it does up by you joe. its been 80's down here... i think the coldest it got midday was 65 and that was bright and sunny

YOU ARE SOOOOOOO LUCKY.I just checked the net and In Tallahassee it is now 50 degrees but up to a high of 62. In Clearwater it is 62 degrees up to a high of 75. And here where I live it is 19.4 right now up to a very high 26.6 if we're lucky. I went to Disney for a week in January and every one was complaining about it being cold. (it was High 60's low 70's) While I was there and called home they had 2 blizzards equaling 18 inches in snow. I need supplemental heat always.

Cool, bet that draws a crowd down here. Got mostly running and screaming when I took my water dragon to the lake up north... :)
