I'm not sure why the scales would be standing up - maybe due for a shed or possibly mites. Something else to think about - that snake looks extremely skinny to me. I'm hoping it's just the lighting but if it is that skinny and you can see folds of skin on the side it needs to be be put on a diet to gain weight quickly IMO. What are you currently feeding it and how old/big is it?

That looks like severe dehydration or severe emaciation to me. The only snakes I've had that look like that have been either non feeder hatchlings that are in a very bad way and a female who had just lost mosre than ½ of her body weight laying a ridiculously large clutch of eggs.

When was the last time your snake ate? Does it have easy access to water?

Actually from the photo it seems to have a food lump in it. I'd say dehydration would be a likely cause.

Do you see her drink when you place her by the water or does she find it on her own? Another question from left field is has she regurged on you at all? I had a hatchling that kept regurging on me and that's similar to what she looked like (not that this is the only way to look like that). Are your temps correct or possibly too high and maybe that's why she could be dehydrated?

Sometimes 24-ish hours before my amel sheds her skin she gets "skin wrinkles" that look somewhat similar to that...but not quite as big. Kinda of like her skin is almost crinkle-y. I have no idea if thats what is going on with yours, but I thought I'd throw my 2 cents out there. I guess that could be a possibility. And if it is, then she'll probably be fine as soon as she sheds...my girl is really healthy despite the fact that she is the only one of my snakes that gets that way.

It seems she is eating though...the food lump looks about the right size, and if you see her drink a lot then that seems like a good sign too. How often do you feed her? I would guess that she either needs to be fed more often, or she is about to shed. That is really very interesting though...

well i took her to my friend who is a vet and she was just skinny. if you pulled her skin back the scales dissapear so apparently im supposed to feed her twice a week until she can get to a bigger size. but i have only been feeding her once every two or sometimes once a week. she drinks on her own and she ate thursday so im going to feed her probably tommorrow.
