My new snakes

Hi all - I'm new here and wanted to show a pic of my snakes - a male Candy Cane and a female Kisatchie that currently are housed together but, from the reading that I have been doing may need urgent separation but I am not sure, since they are so small. Right now they are only barely a foot long and I do not know their age though I could contact the breeder I got them from (SMR) and find out...I would like anyones advice on the matter - how soon can a female become gravid and when can they breed, I know that spring is when it is more urgent to separate but until then is it going to be important?

Yes....I would advise you not to house them together....just in case anything happens to it....
I wouldn't mind keeping that one for you...

Right now they are too young so that would not be a concern at the moment. It really is better if you keep them seperate. The time for them to want to mate will sneak up on you before you know it. It really is sad to loose a female due to being egg bound when it's preventable

I would house them separately. I wouldnt want to take a risk of one of my snakes being eaten by another. BTW Nice snakes!

I keep mine housed together with no problems at all (but will be separating during breeding season when my male has matured). From all the people I have asked that house corns together they have had no probs at all and prefer to keep some together to keep them happy. Its a debatable subject but if you are careful there should be no reason to permantly separate them. Lovely snakes btw!

Thats wierd my corns get along great, they even take turns with there hidebox.

I've kept my two corns together, (female and male) for almost two years. They seem to thrive on each others company. I do feed them seperately but that's the only time their not together.

Stranger things happen...how about the lioness that keeps adopting the antelope?!

I would keep them together.
The worse thing that could happen is that the female starts laying fertilized eggs one day.
And I guess you could live with that?
Be carefull during feedingtime when two or more snakes live in the same terrarium.
