bedding question

I currently use carefresh as a substrate for my corn. my question is, how many inches of bedding (particualry carefresh) is approiate for a snake?

I used to be a small animal person, so i am uesd to putting in a bit, like 3-4 inches or so, which is what is in there now. But i was talking to my gf, and she said, maybe you should just lightly coat the bottem with it.

thanks! :shrugs:

1 1/2 - 2 inches would probably work (might depend on the size of the snake). If you are using a UTH and the substrate is too deep it could keep a lot of the heat from getting through. Too thin a layer may not give enough depth to allow the snake to burrow if it wants to.

What I do is leave a thick layer of aspen everywhere in the viv except under the warm-side hide. I have a thinner layer under the hide to allow the heat to get through. That way the aspen is thicker everywhere else so they can enjoy burrowing a little bit more.

Exactly what I do :) On the warm side it is an inch or maybe slightly less under the hide, and on the cool its about an 1.5 - 2 inches deep, I did have it all the same depth as the warm side through out, but lately I've noticed Travis has taken up burrowing!
