Hog Swelling! (A good thing!)

Shep151

Too busy to hang out.
Here are a couple shots of what I believe is pre-ovulation swelling in one of my female Hog Isles, Ranja. It's not as obvious in this position, but it is notable.
I assume it's pre-ov due to its small size, and the fact that Harley is (obviously!) still quite interested in her. This puts ovulation 2-3 weeks away, and parturition (birth) is projected at late July, but that's pretty rough.
:crazy02:

That is quite a lump. I'm no expert, but it looks like the pics I've seen of boa ovulation.
Me, either! I'm just going by what I've read and seen photos of. When you take into consideration the continued breeding behavior, only pre-ov swelling makes sense. But I've known a snake or two that had issues reading their instruction manuals before...
A couple more weeks will tell. :D

Glad to know I'm not the only one on hog watch, been waiting for my pair to get busy. :grin01:

Good Luck Shep, got my fingers crossed for ya!

So where do I sign up for the payment plan for a pair of those guys? I've been wanting hogs for a while but it just hasn't been in the cards. Maybe I'll get lucky this year. Congrats though!

I'm not counting anything before it's--Born! But if you want notified when pics are available of the offspring, shoot me an email and I'll put you on the list! :wavey:

Thanks, Scott!
Looks like you were right, Lefty! She (actually the whole trio) is going through a shed cycle, which puts the timeline right to call that swell ovulation. I just didn't want to pull her from the male without making sure he had every opportunity to do his job!
So I guess we're down to a hundred and some days left until parturition...

Sweet. Now the nail biting like an expecting father begins. Wish me some luck. I'm watching a het albino poss het anery pair right now.

Ranja, loungin'

She got nice and comfortable after cage cleaning. :)
Her color is the awful color of "gravid", but I won't tell her that! She'll be back to her true colors in about a month anyway. ;)
Her attitude has become pretty defensive, and she came about 4" from latching onto my nose when I started cleaning the cage she's in! :grin01: Could have been very nasty, and was the first time she has struck at me. (which is likely the reason I wasn't watching her body language, like a retard!)
Soon, the two of us will both be pacing down here, and Josh will be echoing us up north...
Today is POS+96, for those who are interested! :wavey:

Harley's a Daddy!

Ranja had her litter late last night! Wooo Hoooooooo!
There was an unintentional increase in humidity that may have set things off... I got called out of the room while a hose was running and :eek1: it slipped my mind. Well, I wanted to rip out the carpet anyway...;)

Anyway, here are some pics of last night...

This one's best when viewed bigger, so I'll link it...
You can see at least one on the ground, and two groups being moved down with contractions.

In total, there are 9 beautiful babies! Individual pics won't be posted until they've shed their gooey skins, but let me tell you there are a couple GREAT tails in the bunch!!!!! :dancer:
