First Perfect Shed

serpentalley

Mirage, motley snow corn.
I am so happy and relieved that Mirage finally had a perfect shed! Ever since we got him a "snake hide" (ExoTerra) he can always be found in it. When his eyes starting hazing I put some damp New Zealand spagnum moss (used for orchids) that I pre-zapped in the microwave. I kept misting the moss daily if needed to keep it damp. I noticed that the skin stayed plyable and almost rubbery throughout the whole shedding process and Presto!! the shed was perfect from nose to tail!

Unlike the last 2 sheds, which were terrible, Mirage's skin was so wrinkled and dry it felt like he was going to crack. Misting the whole viv to 40-50% humidity as recomended still didn't help. Keeping the moisture to the snake cave did the trick for me and Mirage didn't look stressed at all unlike last time when I tried to put a plastic container as a humid hide. Thank you all for your advice!
