Sick mouse?

My breeder male has been making this crackling/popping noise whenever I hold him. It’s not an aggression thing, he's never bitten me. He doesn't have any nasal discharge or watery eyes. He seems bright and alert, he does cuddle with the females in the nest, and he stays by the nest when they all scatter when they see me approach.

It’s such a bizarre noise. I was wondering if this could indicate a respiratory problem or something.

What kind of bedding do you use for your mice? this could help determine the problem

I had a runt in the last litter that made that clicking noise constantly and didn't last past 4 weeks. Next litter was slowly cannibalized from 12 to 4 by day 11. I've given up on breeding mice. What a relief. I lasted all of 3 months.

yer one off my Femails make that nose its just stress maybe the femails a preg and he just wants to get back to them?

We used Woody pet up here on one of the horses I cleaned the stalls out of. I loved that stuff. Just makes me wish I brought some home for my rodents.
