I want to put a crawling branch, much like driftwood chunks you see floating in the water near beaches, but I have no idea what type of wood is safe to use in corn snake viv's. I don't know if it makes a difference but he is a sunkissed corn.
 
Easier to list woods to avoid: Never put cedar in any form in your viv, toxic! Stay away from fruit wood and untreated pine too. If you scavenge for branches outside boil them or bake them on a low heat (watch for smoke) for 20 mins to kill any nasties. Most pet stores have driftwood and other suitable things for vivs and aquariums that'll do nicely :)
 
Definitely stay away from any aromatics and species that produce resins or other secretables (?) that might be bothersome to your snake. Personally, I would give anything a good scrubbing and also bake it just to be doubly safe. I'd rather do overkill than underkill.
 
Went Down To The River & Got Some Driftwood

Well I just went down to the James River here and picked up a massive load of driftwood, so I will go through it all and see what I have. Clean what is good, wire brush scrub it and bake it.

I don't know why I didn't think about driving down there before - duhhh lol. :crazy02:
