possible lung infection

hey guys and gals

i bought my first corn 6 weeks ago and he is eating fine he moves around the cage daily and nightly. humidity is sitting at about 45 and the temp is fluctuating from 75 to 80 so all the factors considered he seems like a healthy snake but when i woke up this morning their was a glob of yellow looking flem on the cage carpet and I'm not sure wether it came out the front end or the rear end as i didn't see it happen. one night about a 3 days ago when i took him out he sounded like he had a bit of a cough then it went away. i do smoke which makes me think that could be the problem. and I'm taking him to the vet on Saturday because thats the soonest i can get him in but i just don't want him to die before that. wondering what all of you think.

see yah on the flip side

Smoking is so unfashionable and it kills everything

Anyway, yes i think if you smoke around your pets or other people they can become ill with it. Is it soooo difficult just to nip outside or hang outta window to have a smoke?

well i talked to the reptile store that i bought him from and they told me to raise the heat in the viv and take out his water dish for a day or two and see if that clears anything up. ive also moved his viv into my bedroom were i do not smoke so im hoping he should be ok there. but im just not sure about the water dish shold i still leave it in there.

The yellow could have been urates in a poop. Is there bubbling, wheezing or open mouth breathing? Increasing the temps a bit is a great start just in case, but I'd leave him with fresh water. As long as there is plenty of air circulation, there shouldn't be an excessive humidity problem. Just make sure the water is on the cool side. For what it's worth...if you smoke in the rest of the house, there will still be smoke in the air in your room. It doesn't just stay where you are.
