I've got a questions about the Mac's Critters & Creatures Pet Retreats. I've not been able to find in product information what sort of wood they're made of, and I'm bad at figuring it out myself. (Funny how someone that can learn to recognizes different morphs and colorings has a hard time telling the difference between a pine and a cypress log.) Does anyone have any information on what sort of wood they are?

I'm afraid I don't know what type of wood they are, but I can tell you they're safe for corns. The petshop I volunteer at uses them for all its snakes, no problems whatsoever.

(Real wood, bark. Totally pet safe.) <- That is all I could get when I looked them up. I actually have the biggest one they make. My snake is too big to hide in it but he LOVES to tunnel under it and it was the PERFECT aid in his shedding a few days ago. He rubbed his head on it a few times and popped the head skin loose and the rest, as they say, was history. I personally like the looks of the hide too. But Billy gets all over and under it, he just can't curl up under it. I bought him the tree stump hide to replace his box hide I had in there and this snake loves this thing. It has all the room he needs to curl up and get away from it all but when it is time to explore, he is in and out of the holes and wraps around it. He really likes it. It isn't made of wood but really looks like it. It's actually made of non-toxic, easy to clean resin. It's nice and rough (not too rough) for shedding too.
