red bulbs, can they be left on at night?

I asume they need a pattern light on in day. light of at night .. buyt just check ;]

I turn my red and black lights on at night when my full spectrums turn off. They aren't supposed to notice the red, and the black lights simulate moon light. They are inderect though, (not on top of the tanks), so it just keeps the ambient heat in the room while allowing me to watch them in their nocturnal wanderings. :D If your using a UTH you probably don't want the lights right over the tanks either, as it may get too hot. Check your temps, and proceed from there...

A low wattage bulb generates very little heat. I use a 25 watt red bulb in a regular old desk lamp and it works great. I only use it for viewing and I don't leave it on all night, but I wouldn't worry if I forgot to turn it off. It barely even gets warm.
