So, you think your corn won't eat it's cagemate?

carol

Down with the sickness
I find it funny that so many people think that a corn will always know the difference between what it should and shouldn't eat. I opened up this girls cage to feed her and wasn't fast enough. She decided to dart out of her cage and take down the hubby's foot. (Which btw smells NOTHING like mouse). He tried to pry her off and she started constricting his thumb, note signifigant color change from one part of thumb to other. Cracks me up!
And heres one  for the man that puts up with my zoo, helps me care for them, and is completely willing to wait for me to help him out of a jam... AFTER I GET PICS! :grin01: I had to bop her in the head several times with a mouse to get her to let go.

Crikey thas a fiesty one, ain't she gorgeous? The trick is to catch the elusive "Toe eating, Leaping Corn" in mid-air... :D

Isn't it great having a stunt double?

Too funny, Carol. Are ya trying to make me feel better about my Sunglow Motley girl? Cute picture, and I think Jeram does win the "Most Supportive Spouse" award... although I'm starting to think he enjoys the snakes almost as much as you do. You've done well. Now you just need to teach me how to do that with Mark. :D

I had a similar attack the other night. I decided to feed C.S. on the floor since my feeder boxes were being occupied by other diners. I offer his rats with tongs as he is...well, how shall I state this delicately......a great amel shark when he eats. Well he struck and missed the rat and so decided to turn on me instead. Nothing like 4 ft. of ravenous amel coming at you with mouth wide open! I swear I could hear his teeth clacking together :) I fended him off with the tongs and a paper towel until I could get the tongs back around the rat and re-offer it. Whew! Next time containment for that bomb!

she must have a good appetite! :grin01: have you ever tried taking them to the sink and running the cold water over them? they let go straight away! it's a good tip for if they get hold of they're cagemate.

An even better tip for when they get ahold of a cagemate, would be to get a seperate cage, or get rid of one snake...

true. but what about breeders who get a couple of very large clutches? what if someone can afford the food for two snakes, but not the electric bill? i know what your going to say, "well, they shouldn't keep them in the first place!" and i'd agree with you,but most people will experience a situation like this. i just tried to offer a tip for anyone who might need help in one of these situations. i'm not saying carol needs it, because she has more experience with corns than i do. it was more for people who find themselves on the end of a feeding bite. i know of a few people who have overreacted, which ended up in the snake getting hurt.at least this way the snake will come out of it unharmed.

lol that is so funny, your poor husband. At least he was good enough to wait for you to take a pic before you rescued him lol what a man!!!

:) are you sure his foot wasn't a little bit 'mousey'! great story and pics, I'd have been laughing too much to hold the camera still

Thanks for sharing..they do do strange stuff at times...one of mine bit into his own back ! (must of been the scent from constricting)
