One Male and Three Females!!!

Never Enough!
Well on Firday I went out and bought 1 male and 3 females. I was wondering when they might have babies? They are all breeding size.

It really depends ...

Were they housed by sex before you bought them (if there were both sexes together they could drop in under a month). If they were housed by sex then about 3.5 weeks after the male mates with them.

You said they are breeding size ... any idea on age? Femlaes over 9 months that havent had a litter are at high risk to die during birth (thier pelvis has fused narrowing the birth canal). Males over 9 months that havent been with females tend to lose interest in mating.

I prefer to buy them at medium size (about 120 grams). Grow them out to about 160-170 grams (large size) and then put them with the opposite sex.

That way you are getting maximum breeding span and can almost eliminate birthing problems.

Ratsicles...Um that whole 120, growing to 160, 170makes it sound like your talking about rats. but this person didn't specify if it was mice or rats.

You are right. I was referring to rats. ::grins::. Sorry about that.

I think the age for birthing complications in mice is 6 months instead of 9 months.

Well i know max i breed mine till is 6 1/5 - 7 months. after that they produce smaller litters. I start them breeding a week to 2 weeks after their sexually mature.

Ok yea. My mice are sexually mature at 23-25grams... 6 weeks for females and 8 weeks for males. Wait a month and You'll have babys...well if they settle quick.
