My viv arrived...just a few gap questions

Paradox

Insane reptiphile
As I have said, my Viv has arrived at last. It is a 48x15x28 inch wooden viv, with sliding glass doors. I will get you some pictures soon. Just a few questions on some gaps.

What size gap and a hatchling get out of? I know about the half the size of head rule, but roughly in mm how large would it be? There is a gap of about 4.5mm inbetween the sliding doors. I have heard that can be taped or covered in another way though, so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

The problem comes with the air vents. They have gaps of about 3-4.5 mm in as well, and I know for a fact those cannot be covered up with tape. Would it be likely a hatchling would be able to escape from these vents? If so, what can I do about this?

I've got the rest of the materials sorted, and don't worry i am giving the little guy/girl plenty of hides and cardboard tubes to use in the large viv...and I have the patience to find it ;)

Thanks in advance to all you who reply,
Chris

Just saying, in the third line, the and four words in was meant to be can.

Also, if I covered the inside of the vents with a very fine mesh, would that take care of the problems? Just a peice of fabric with fine holes in, but light and thin to allow the air through?

If you are worried about your corn escaping, than a breathable fabric sounds fine. Or you could try the same material that is used in the screen tops to cover the top of glass tanks... Very fine metal.

Can you take the airvents out? Take them out and wrap them in nylon stockings then shove them back in.

I shoved a piece of cardboard in the gap on my viv when my little guy was littler.
