Breeding for my Sunglow motley

inkrat

New member
I'm hoping that some one can help me out the more I read I am finding out that the snake I caught is a highlypopular and since his recent shed was 47" he's almost completely mature.
OK my question is what kind of equipment would I need other than a female to begin breeding since this paticular snake has me in a daze. I would also like to know what a good X would be with him to get an original or rare snake??

also my sanke seems to never use his hide so i removed it he seems to like to hide under the substrate instead anyone else have this issue.

Hi there, nice sunglow you have there.

I suggest seeings you're new to it, you should keep him as a pet for at least a year and get to know your snake before you make any plans to breed him. Are you even sure it's a him?

You say your snake is 'almost mature', but if you're talking about sexual maturity...he was there a long time ago!

He might choose to hide under the substrate to get to a cooler or warmer area if his home is not odffering him the right conditions.

Show us some pics of the snake...oh, and put the hide back in, he might want to use it sometime, just not today.

Show us some pics of the viv too and we'll perhaps coach you on your settup.

One more thing to note is the various areas to post various questins in this forum. There is one specifically for breeding and one for the cultivars as well as one for newmember introductions.

Good luck

TY I really appriciate the advise and when I said mature it was cause of the snakes length and girth his last shed was 47" and they claim to have a maximum of about 4 to 5'

Some never get bigger than 3 feet some hit 6. 4-5 is a rough average.

Also in the other post you said that he was probably released due to his feeding needs being too great (forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly)...a snake like that would only need one or 2 adult mice every 10 days or so, so they're not so hard to keep. I find the older ones are a lot easier than the littlies.

WOW!! what a great snake to find.. As Princess says put the hide back in to make him feel more secure & the best thing you could do is to look for the FAQ at the top of the page & take it from there... Good luck with your super find.....

I agree in waiting a long while to get to know your new friend. Also it is difficult for people to enlighten you as to what kind of variety you should pair him up with since there is no telling what hets he might be carrying.
