help me feed my corn!

Hi, I am having a little trouble feeding my new corn. I am using a frozen mouse and I have the corn and the mouse in a seperate jar than his normal tank. I left him in there in good heat. I have had the corn for 3 days and I tried to feed him today and he didn't eat after being in the smaller jar for a couple hours. I am using a pinkie mouse and I am pretty sure the temp is fine. Thanks for any help, Poly15

It's not too clear from your post, but....I presume that you thawed the rodent?

If you've just had the snake for only three days, you may want to let the snake get used to his surroundings before feeding. Relocating any juvenile corn is stressful, and they need time to get acclimated. I'd wait a couple of days before trying to feed him again.

By feeding the snake in a separate "jar", what exactly do you mean? Are you actually using something like a glass jar?

Indeed, perhaps you tried to feed too soon, although when I first got my caramel I fed him about 5 days after I got him and he fed fine (but he feeds fine all the time anyway, the little vulture!)

If after a little while you can't get the snake to eat, there are a number of techniques to try etc, but I don't think it's time for that yet. Although you may like to try cutting the backs of the mice. I think this is good practice even for a snake that is eating healthily, and the smell can make them want to eat more.

Good luck!

check the exact method of feeding your corn is used to and copy that exactly thats what worked for mine. I would also agree with the others the snake might need more time to get used to its new home as well before it eats.

Here is what we did with my brand new baby corn. We brought him home on a Friday, set up his house and then totally ignored him (except for checking, no touching), and then feed him the next Wednesday. (he had been feed by the breeder on the Thursday before we brought him home). He had some time to settle in and was good and hungry by then, he started swallowing his little pinky before his entire body was in his feeding enclosure. Maybe your little one needs more time. Good luck!!!!

Mine did not eat when I first brought her home. I waited a couple more days and put her in the container I bougt her in with a pinkie. I put the container in her tank and left her alone all night. I checked in the morning and she ate the pinkie. Might not be the best way but it worked for me.
For the next feeding, I put her in her regular feeding container and she ate right away.
