Amelanistic Hypomelanistic Okeetees

I seem to get these the last couple of years. I breed some of my Hypo Okeetees together and get some of these Amelanistics hatching out. So of course, they have to be homozygous for Amelanism and Hypomelanism at the same time. Wonder how many I have kept back? I hope I don't have to keep all of these this year as well.........

Rich, do you have any of these as adults ? How do they look? How much will these sell for as hatchlings ?

Thanks, Stephen

I held back some from last year, which I think are the first ones I have gotten. So no, I don't know what adults look like. Not sure I will sell any, but depends on how many I get and my mood of the moment. I don't need another 55 gallon drum's worth of "keepers" this year.

Besides, what the heck would I even call them? :shrugs:

I think any name should reflect the Okeetee heritage. So how about....Lookeemees ;) look at mes hehe. Yes I'll go back to hiding in my box now. You have to admit, they DO make you want to look at them. :)

I thought I read that Hypo is masked by amel.. ??? Did I miss a new added chapter someplace?

Regards..Tim of T and J

Well everyone knows that sunlogs are hypo amels. :grin01:

"Sunlog"? Where in the world did that name come from? For the life of me, just seeing the name, I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would look like just from the name. The only image it brings to my mind might be a log floating in the middle of a pond that turtles bask in the sun on.

"sunlogs" are amel motley's that have very little or no white in their pattern. also they have been specifically bred to exhibit "basking turtle" shaped spots. :sidestep:

Rich, don't you no that sunlogs are featured in teh Katy Manula book on crons!

(sunlog=sunglow)

For further reference (as if you have the time), the background on the long running joke of 'sunlog' can be found in that ridiculous 'sunglow' thread where you had to ban about 200 people.
