Storage bins, 31 quart or 42 quart

Hey there. I know most people use either 31 quart or 42 quarts for adults.

Assuming it is the sterilite:
31 q = 23 1/2"L x 16 1/4"W x 6 3/8"H
42 q = 34 3/4"L x 16 1/2"W x 6"H

which ones do most people here use?

I have access to both sizes now (albeit not the same brand), and I know the bigger the better. But once I locate the size that someone recommends, someone recommends an even bigger one. I want to see if the 31q is enough for an average sized adult here for most people's standards. It would allow me to fit a lot more snakes into my collection than had I used 42 quarts.

A 20 gallon long tank (suggested to be big enough for an adult corn) is 360sq inches of floor space. The 31qt tub would be 382sq inches. So the 31qt should be plenty of space.

There's another factor you might want to consider when getting your tubs. If you're using a rack system where the tubs (with or w/o lids) slide snuggly into the shelves AND you are or will ever want to house sub-adults and adults in the same rack, then you will probably want to get all one brand of tub.

Sterilite makes several different sizes of tubs all the same height, and the same can be said for other brands. If you put your hatchlings and other sub-adults in rubbermaid tubs and want to put your adults in sterilites, there is a very high probability that they will be different heights and so both brands won't fit into the rack.

Just something to think about before you run out and buy different brands of tubs all for the same rack.:)

Being in China I can't get EITHER brands LOL! I just wanted to see if the floor spaces for what I can get be enough. I guess I'm gonna have to build two racks.

I currently am using 17 X 10" X 7" (with lids) for hatchlings (no rack yet, just stacked on top of each other.)
I can also get 31" X 15", or 22" X 17". The former similar in size to a 41 and the later to a 28-31q. Hence my question.
I guess the latter will have to do as I won't have enough space for all the snakes in my house i I go with the 31" one.

I was only using those two brands as examples because they are what I'm familiar with. I think other brands tend to follow the same trend of having the same height for several sizes, but I may be wrong.
