New out of the eggers--phantom, hypo blood, hypo lav

I got back from my trip last night and came home to these! They are so CUTE! And so TINY! Kristi has had them settling in since Wednesday. I took them out and handled them VERY briefly, and though they are a little wiggly, they seem like pretty reasonable snakes so far. I will give them their first meal tonight at dusk and hope that they will eat.

The hypo blood doesn't have the phenomenal diffusion that I've seen on some others' hatchlings, but hopefully that will improve in time. He's shed once already. The phantom is the squirreliest of the three. She's darker than I expected, and it will be fun to see how she changes over time. The hypo lav looks very mocha yet. I LOVE her markings. At the moment, she's my favorite of the three because of them.

I don't know how I missed this thread earlier. I just sent you a PM about half an hour ago, asking if you got these. DOH! :grin01:

They look great! That hypo-blood's going to surprise you, I think. And what a crazy, flaming-eyed head pattern. Awesome. And that hypo-lav's pattern is cool. Looks banded from above, but there's some cool stuff going on in the side-view. Congrats on some great new arrivals.

Really sweet babies! There's something about the head pattern on the hypolav that really caught my attention. And the color of the hypo blood is blinding!

Thanks, all. I also really love the "bandedness" of the hypo lav and that little spot on her head. It looks cool. The hypo blood is just adorable, somehow, and the phantom amuses me because she is so feisty. I weighed them yesterday and the phantom, hypo lav, and hypo blood are 8, 7, and 6 g, respectively.

I fed them last night and they all ate! :dancer: The little phantom ferociously grabbed her wet-thawed pinky before I could even close the lid on her shipping/feeding container. :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: I'm very pleased with them!

Looks like the workings of a cool hypo pewter and hypo plasma project. :D

I've seen two types of phantoms. My first one was much like yours when he was little, and he grew up to look like this:

Casper_0103_01.jpg

He's the grandfather of the hypo pewters Ace and Malkovich, and those two look quite a bit more like the "DeBakey" style phantoms than Grampa Casper does, so I'm not sure what's giving those "dark" phantoms their look. ;)

Indeed they are. :) The male is also planned for my female Anery possible het diffused in a few years to eventually get to hypo granites (don't recall if there's a trade name for those). The female hypo lav will also be paired with my anery lav at some point to eventually get to hypo anery lavs, unless it turns out that I don't like those when someone comes out with them.

And when I need unrelated animals to breed with my F2s, I know where to go to find them. ;)

I like the look of your phantom, so I'm happy if that's her outcome.

This is all so exciting! I'm glad I have a long attention span . . .

 Congrats on the recent pick ups, they all look great. I really can't wait till Daytona to finish getting the rest of my project starters....

LOL! Thanks again, Liam, for splitting the order and for NOT stealing the hypo blood, who's been named Saul. I really like him.

Now, where are the pics of YOUR little ones, since I didn't get to see them in person? :(

the best laid plans of mice and men . . .

It never said anything about the plans of women, but I guess those sometimes wander too! Turns out the hypo blood is a female! A tiny ordering snafoo resulted in my getting a lone female for the price of a lone male. I never even checked the shipping container labels and assumed it was a male. Soooo, I'll be on the lookout for boyfriends (or a boyfriend) for my female hypo lav and phantom in a few years. Since I'm on a strict snake diet for the next two years, I'll have to wait to buy their male suitor, but that's ok. Some of those boys can be quite precocious. I've seen pictures posted here of boys becoming men at early ages. And maybe they'll just be exogamous on 09 and find mates outside the household . . . That'll work too. :) And there's nothing at all wrong with having TWO hypo bloodreds in one's collection, right Dean?

So Saul is out (not because I'm opposed to naming snakes cross-gendered names, but because in my own head Saul, in particular, only works for a boy).

The female phantom has been named Phaethon (case in point). The other two remain nameless. It might take a while, but I'll figure them out eventually.

The only thing wrong with it is that you're one short. THREE hypo-bloods is ideal (1.2). Just ask Holden, Hedda, and Hydi. ;)

But Dean, you forgot bitchy!

Well, I didn't list her as mine, but I didn't forget Bitchy. How could I? I haven't stopped bleeding yet from her feeding session an hour ago. :grin01:
