Vivarium ideas.

Hey all, I just covered up the three sides of Caspers vivarium, now its dark in there and could barely see anything the way the sun comes into my room... I was wondering if there are any decent lights I could put at the top to just shed a little lighting without changing the temperature in there. Also I wanted to know some your ideas on how to hide wires in the viv, I love that I have everything controlled and monitored constantly but I hate having a beautiful viv with wires hanging down. If anyone has any pics of any crafty or unusual viv ideas, I would love to see them. I'm starting to think that this 10 gallon is too small already and hes still a baby lol, I have so many things I wanna put in there but with the 10g it just looks too crowded. Think I should spring for the 20g??

Snakes like it crowded. It makes them feel safe. You will eventually have to get another viv anyway, so you may as well do it now.

As for lighting, I use fluorescent fish tank light strips. They provide light to see the snake, but don't raise the temps significantly.

Hiding wires can be done by wrapping them in fake vines and stuff that you can get at places like Wal-mart. Look in the craft section, not the pet section.

For the wires, go to petsmart and get a vine with leaves on it, I found one that even had suction cups and I just buried my wire into it...or go to reptilesupply.com and get a 4.99 for a medium plant. For lighting, I also use an aquarium light...mine is a AquaGlo...REALLY lets red colors and green colors stand out and no heat (or min.) and it's a sort of dim light and my corn doesnt seem to mind it.

i finally washed out my tank after 3 years. and i took the backing off and it looking much more cleaner and perfect light in now then it lights up better.

Ewwww...GROSS!!! :puke01:

I hope you mean that you had a tank sitting in the garage or something for 3 years and you washed it out to use it for a snake. You really should clean it more often because washing a tank every 3 years isn't healthy...for you or the snake.
