Butter hatchling

UKCryptid

The king of ming
Hi everyone, this is one of the butters that hatched recently for my friend after we started pairing everything up. Apparently I can keep one :santa:
It's a shame the ligthing was bad, it makes it seem a tad less 'orange' than it is, i'll get some more photos when he/she comes home :crazy02:
The other picture is an absolutely gorgeous amel that hatched, again poor lighting stopped a good picture, but, again, I can have it for free, it was like christmas for me yesterday honest  It had a much better colour 'sharpness' than the other amels that hatched. There is even an amel motley in the clutch that will be photo's next time i go see him. It was the only motley in the whole batch of 20-something eggs.

Yeah will do, once they're home it'll be better with the camera on a tripod or atleast the better lighting. Even better will be when these little beauts are of breeding age. We've established the miami male is het for butter and hypo (thats also amber i believe?) and we have a butter female het for hypo as well, so i'm sure next season there's going to be many great things now that we have a general idea of their genes.

Just a couple of more recent shots of the hatchling above. Also one picture of the amel male youngster my friend has kindly given me. Excuse the brightness.

Ditto that.
poss a het butter but dont look like a full butter.

Thought i'd mentioned that already, they darkened after their first shed so we also assumed they weren't butters, they were very light to begin with. There are five of those and the amel in the last photo was a sibling along with other amels, there's definately something different about them five compared to the other amels so we're just watching. They came from a butter female, het for hypo amongst other things, the male is a miami het for snow, caramel and hypo.

Butter and amel. Butters aren't red.

Yes I know. They were not red to begin with, also the last picture IS a normal amel, that's not the same hatchling that we thought was butter. The one that was very pale to begin with and then darkend up, is above it. All five looked the same as the butter in the photo you posted to begin with, only one still does, the rest are now dark orange (That's not red to my eyes looking at my last amel photo compared to the first orange photo). Anyway as I already said, we know they're probably not what they first appeared to be, we're just growing them on now to see how nice of snakes they'll turn out to be and possibly worth keeping hold of. Plus the fact that they're het for a nice amount of stuff.

The pictures really don't do them justice, Dave! How're the tortoises?
None of my pictures ever really do them justice, when i'm trying to get good lighting to show colours properly things always go too dark or too light, sods law  :grin01:
The tortoises are all fine cheers, had 4 more leopard tortoise eggs laid and 16 Hermanns. Now it's just a waiting game...as usual :bang:
I got some better photos of them as it goes, will get them sorted off the camera this eve.

Isn't she pretty! In real life is she tending towards yellow or orange now? It's so hard to tell from photos what the real colours are :)

I don't suppose it helped being sat next to her yellow house either for noticing colour, my apologies but she wanted to head back in there instead of look pretty for a camera. She and her siblings are confusing me to be honest, her saddles are a nice orange, but you how red in blood-reds gradually builds? Seems to be happening with yellow slightly, over the saddles and background colour. She's a nice corn whatever her strain would be, she looks so different when sitting next to my amels.

Also just to add, i'll try and get a photo without the flash on the camera, makes it look much more as it does in person, it's just always blurry.

Oh well, I'll just have to invite myself over to see her! I tend to try the macro setting on my camera with a lamp trained on the snakes, but I still get hugely differing results!

Best piccy so far showing her true colour...And appetite.
Dave
