Well, the day has finally come. I've been waiting anxiously for when I had the time and resources to get my very first snake, and had my eye on one particular little boy at a local specialty shop.
Meet Scuba Steve...

He is a '03 San Luis Potosi Kingsnake, sitting at a good 3.5-4 feet. He's absolutely gorgeous and as tame as a kitten, he already settled in and ate for me the first day he came home! This is definitely not helping my passion for snakes. The addiction is strong. :eek1:
The only drawback about this guy is he WILL NOT eat f/t, he won't even give them a sniff. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that he is a kingsnake, but his breeder was never able to get him to switch over. He tried brained pinks, slashed mice, tuna and anole scenting, and leaving the mouse in a bag with him. So, unfortunately, he chowed down on a live mouse today.
And yes, I tried my luck with a f/t as well, and he ignored it completely.
Anyway, enough of that, more pictures!
Exploring his new digs:

Catching some sun:

Yummy!

His new home:

I think I have everything in place now. He's in a 20 long with two half-log hides, a large water dish, aspen substrate, a UTH, a lamp dimmer to act as a thermostat, and a probe thermometer set to go off if it gets too hot. He's sitting at a comfy 86 right now, digesting his dinner.
I love Scuba Steve.
