I Have a mat heater under my 10g tank and I checked the air temp and it was 70 F and then I checked the floor temp with a needle temp gauge and the needle was showing 160 F i don't know what to do? I don't know what to do because the air temp is not even near of waht it hould be and the glass floor is already very high!!!!

Help me here guys since this is my first snake!!

Thanks

Get a thermostat to control the temperature of the heater, it should keep the @glass temp between 85 and 90F. As for raising the air temp, you can do that with an incandescent light above the terrarium, as well as covering up part of the mesh top with plastic wrap. just be sure that what ever you use to raise the air temp doesn't make the whole terrarium to hot. the snake needs to have a good temperature gradient.

use a lamp...
and the floor temp is burning !!!
use something to cover it... at 160 F your snake will never hide on that spot !
My solution was building a base with a shoe box.. then putting the hide on hide so the distance between the floor and the new "floor" would permit the heat to dissipate.
One more thing, under the tank, be sure to leave space for the heat to get out (of the space between the tank and the table) .

Get a better thermometer, but not one of the sticky types ones, get somthing with a probe, and a rheostat or a thermostat to control the temp. The air temp does not need to be up, just the surface temp.

There is no need to worry about what the air temps are, since corns spend most of the time on the ground. Like cornsnakekid92 mentioned, get a digital thermometer with a probe and a thermostat or rheostat to regulate your temps. Don't try to regulate it by adding more substrate (the snake will burrow) or something like cardboard or newspaper (the snake can and will get under them).
