so i've been doing alot of work lately with copper pipe (fire sprinklers) and i've got some beautiful leftover pieces. thinking about making a cage with built in copper pipe hides at different levels in the cage.
can anybody think of any reason i should avoid copper all together? i think it's a pretty safe metal- the prefered metal for plumbing...
thinking about 2" pipe.
 
Well, If you can make it safe without any sharp edges and clean it off first.
(I've worked with copper too and your hand get dirty.) I can't see way not. but do you plan on fitting pipe together to make a hide? Like a tunnel thing or just make half pipes for hides. A snake can get caught it a tunnel things.

also I wouldn't have any copper on top of the heating element (may burn snake). And not near the bottom perimeter of the viv (would snake poop discolor the metal?)
 
it probably would discolor it, even my finger prints do.
but as far as the heating element goes, that's what i liked the idea for.. it can get any hotter than the heating element, only conduct the heat really well. if i use a therm. it should be fine i think.
i'm thinking to use straight peices about 4 feet long, wide enough that he can turn in it.
ok, so i'll post a picture when it's done!

#1 copper brings just over $2.00 a pound
#2 copper brings about $1.80 a pound

I am a broke college student, so I feel I have a valid reason.
