How can you tell the age of a CS?

Hi,
I searched in the forum under age and didn't get a hit. I was just wondering how you can tell the age of an adult corn snake? When at shows I have seen lots of snakes that i really liked but often wondered if they were "past their prime". I did buy one recently that I am curious about. I'm looking forward to some answers from you experts (or others) out there. Any and all welcome. Thanks a lot, Robin :wavey:

I'm sorry, there is no easy answer to this one.. You just can't reliably guess the age on older corns. Yeah some may have tell tale signs ie. hips, more noticable spines but you can't judge on that alone. Same with size, it's really no true indicator of age, except of course I'd doubt you'd believe someone that told you four foot 600 gram snake is only three months old! lol :)

You can chop them in half and count the rings! :grin01: JUST A JOKE! PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! ;)

I agree with Rebecca; there just isn't an easy way...

LOL. I was gonna say that if he isn't crawling with a cane and wearing glasses, he's not past his prime.

Darn yooooooouuuu! That was my answer.... :crazy02:

If you get it from a breeder they should have reliable records, otherwise, there's no way to tell. You can get a general idea from size up to adult, but after they reach adult age, they all pretty much look alike until they die. There's always going to be that oddball animal that is smaller or larger than one's of it's age that will mess with you :)
