Missing snake HAS BEEN FOUND

 Well ,for anyone that remembers,my snake escaped back around the 30th of October.I searched for a while with NO luck. There are just TOO many places for a snake his size to hide,,ESPECIALLY in my kids rooms.
Tonight when I was going in the basement to do some laundry,my daughter was comming along.GOOD THING,,because for some reason she happened to see my snake crawling along the wall, behind a pile of dirty cloths.I don't no how she spotted him,but THANK GOD he gave her a sharp little pair of eyes.
He seems OK.A bit thin, but nothing like I thought he would be.He was ice cold when I picked him up,,but still very responsive.I would think he was GLAD to get back to his old home
I held off on feeding him tonight.I thought it would be a good idea to give him a little time to acclimate again.I should feed him tomorrow, right ??.

Congratulations! I love hearing stories like this. I wish I had a story like this too!

Someone senior may have better advice, but if he seems normally alert and active tomorrow, I'd offer - probably something a bit smaller than normal. If you aren't sure/comfortable with that, it won't kill him to settle in for two or three days.

Good job on getting him back and letting him warm up before doing anything else! :wavey:

congratulations on your snake's return. I would let him get comfortable before offering anything to eat.

It's kinda funny,,ironic. On Sat.I stopped in this pet shop to get some crix for our bd's.It's not my normal stop for crix, but a shop I love to get to once in a just to see all their snakes. The shop is called The ZOO,,and man do they have a snake collection :eek1: BIG SNAKES too,,we're talking 10',,15',,18',,BIG BOYS.Anyway,,I was talking about my missing snake,,and how I had given up hope on finding him alive.A guy was there getting some mice and rats,,and he told me how his red tail was missing for an entire winter, before he just showed up out of the blue.I thought,,WOW,maybe there is still a slight chance.
The store owner said not to give up,,3 or 4 weeks wasn't too long. They were RIGHT :)

Congratulations on finding him. It won't hurt him to settle a few days before feeding, but I do agree with the suggestion to start with smaller than normal prey.

What a wonderful story. :) I'm sure you were so excited to see that little guy again. I was just reading the other day that snakes are good at remembering escape routes and can often return directly to the crack they used to escape the first time. So be careful!
Many, many years ago that happened to me with a gecko I owned. I don't know what type of gecko it was, but they live wild all around our house and he got out and must have bred with some of the wild geckos because for years after that our house and garage were always full of geckos. Ha.
I am praying that my snake doesnt get out of his tank.

That is such good news! I've given up on the yearling anery that got out in July. There are dozens of boxes throughout our upstairs (where the snake room is) and I expect to find a mummified snake in one at some point. I'm always glad to hear about success stories.

Yippeeee! good news! I know how good it feels to get them back. I too would offer something smaller than normal in a couple of days. Perhaps even put cuts in the back (if it's f/t) to help it digest. In the meantime make sure he's well hydrated and give your daughter an extra kiss for having good eyes!

Oh yes,,she did get an extra kiss,,and a small cash reward,(she liked the money the most).
I offered a small pinkie last night, which was snatched up quick.I "trimmed" it down a little,so it would be easier to swallow :grin01:
