Basically, you only need to do it if you have really low humidity where you are. But there are other ways to keep up the humidity. The average humidity around my area is just right, so I don't need to do it. But I do it while they're shedding, because they need higher humidity when they're shedding.

Moderate humidity (40-60%) should be fine at all times. Where in California are you? If you are anywhere near me, you most likely won't have any problems.

Your snake will go through a shed cycle regardless of the humidity. The humidity doesn't cause them to shed, it just helps them when they do shed.Brizzle said:
