heating multiple cages w/ heat tape & 1 thermostat

I'm building new cages for my snakes so that they'll have more room. I've already built the frame, which will hold 4 cages, one on top of the other. I want to heat all cages w/ 4'' mylar heating tape on half of the bottom and then use a heat light. Each cage will measure 29inx12inx16.25in. What I want to know is if I plug all the heat pads into a power strip and then plug that into a thermostat, would that be ok? Every cage will be exactly the same (minus decor). Please help!

Theoretically, yes. However, you'll have to make certain that all of your heat tape strips are working properly so that the one thermostat can do its job. I have my racks heated using this same method. I would recommend having your themr probe set in the middle of your rack to guarantee the median temp is that which is being controlled, though.

BTW, where are you located in MO?
