UTH/Heat Mat brand preference

Of the three major choices available:

ZooMed Repti Therm
Exo Terra Heat Wave
T-Rex Cobra Heat mats

(I know flex watt is the professional choice, but I'm talking about pre-made UTHs)

Does anyone have a favorite? And why?

I've got a large ZooMed on my 40 gallon breeder tank. I like it well enough and it seems durable, but because the element is encased in a thick plastic it is difficult to make it make good contact on the glass (too many air pockets, and doesn't stick well around the edges). It can also get very hot if not well controlled. I've gotten the glass over 115 degrees in tests.

Anyone have any opinions on the Exo Terra and T-Rex mats?

Down with Zoomed myself

Hey man, for the first 4 months I had my corn I just used a heat lamp. I never even really cared much for temps because I never used anything the first month until I found this site. But last month I decided I guess since I'm moving up feeder sizes and I want digestion to go as smooth as possible I mine as well get his temps in the cage where they need to be. I have a 20 gallon and bought a zoomed uth and it works awesome. I got flunkers digital probe to monitor temps and have a rheostat to regulate. I think I need to find a good thermostat at the reptile expo in two weeks though cause I don't care much for the rheo. Every day I get home and the temp on the warm side is 87-88.5 degrees. Even after messing with the rheo for like 4 weeks I still can't get it to hit 85 dead even. I know it has something to do with ambient temps as well but cant get it right. But for now I guess it works until I buy a better thermostat. But the uth works great. Wouldnt change that out for the world. My snake loves its log hide over the uth zone and uses it all the time. Never heard of that t-rex one, nor saw one when I purchased mine. But then again I got mine from petsmart. Ps: I only get materials like hides, cage furniture, etc from there. I do not support the way they treat their animals and only buy those at expos. But yea thats my opinion.

I have a couple Exo Terra Deserts in use. I think they tend to stay cooler than Zoo Med, which I have four of, but still require a thermostat, IMO. I am setting up my new cages with a couple Flex Watts- which I expect to be closer to Exo Terra in performance. An unregulated Zoo Med can easily get to 120F.
