mission impossible?

My baby corn has done this a couple of times now - he uses his log hide as a platform and raises himself up to the roof of my plastic faunarium tank where he ba;lances on the groove around the lip. He cannot get out but I saw him half-fall earlier and was wondering if this could damage him. It's not a big drop and he seems fine but I worry that to many mission impossibles and he could end up hurt

My son's corn used to always hang out on the lip of the lid to the aquarium. I have tons of pictures of her in that spot. She would slither around until she was comfortable and stay up there for hours. She fell a few times but she was ok. If your snake can push up on that lid even a wee bit, please put a few books on top to keep the lid completely secure. Someone else's snake did this and the head got caught. It was NOT a pretty site....the snake died. :0(

I suspect you have the exact same tank i used to have and my snake did the exact same thing!....and also fell a few times. He did eventually give up.... but only when he couldn't fit anymore!
As long as he is moving around OK he will be fine - snakes are remarkably resilient creatures and would probably have to deal with much worse in the wild!

I am sure he will be fine...

If your snake starts jumping on the sofa I would start to worry though... just FYI.

Just have a cat to stand on top of the lid...works great! Be careful though, if your top is a screen lid, it's not very pleasant when the cat hacks up a hairball right on top of the warm hide.

Seriously though, mine also used to climb up to that rim, and even liked being up there when the cat was right on the screen too. However, since the cat did in fact yak on there, the snake no longer comes out much when she's sitting on top of the cage. :grin01:

I've not seen any harm from falling out. I did put several extra clips on there though to keep the snake in.

My snake used to do a lot of exploring of the lid although he couldn't get on the ledge because its a Critter Cage and there isn't much of one for him to climb on. Here is a picture of him in an escape attempt (kind of blurry).
