Here are the results of my labor.

Top to bottom... the viv itself. Before I added the background and after. Added a few more plants to the corners as well.

A few pics of Mr. Gecko. House Gecko, that is.

Last but not least

Continuation... the frogs. 4 Cubans left out of the original batch of 10 newly hatched froglets a student gave me. Some got eaten, and a few just never seemed to catch enough to stay alive long. :( I guess not everyone is meant to make it in the world.

These are the remaining four.

Wow, I really want to do that (although parents probably won't let me have more pets, so without the frogs) with some new plants I bought.

I'd be afraid the humidity is too high. Plus, they need a pretty big space and I don't think I have the time or money to do that with a 55 galon hex tank they're in. But I wouldn't mind trying it on a 29 gallon.

Thanks everyone, for the comments.

I have found that keeping a screen lid on it controls the humidity quite well. I am actually thinking about a larger water dish and an "ultrasonic" mister in order to raise the ambient humidity in the tank, as with the screen top, it's tough to keep it where it needs to be. Plus I think it'd look cool!

The change in the viv itself is very nice. I always love denser planting... for me, it just ruins the feeling if you can see the wall behind it. lol

They are real plants... I have quite a variety. One miniature palm (which will soon outgrow the tank and need replacing), two pothos, one star ivy, a fig tree, and a few that to be honest... I don't really know what they are. They've all been in with the frogs for a year and a half now, since I got them last year.

This tank is a 29 gallon- the last was a 20. 4 tree frogs and a house gecko. It was 5 tree frogs, but one died during the move. I try not to handle or hold them, ever, as it is very stressful for them. He just never seemed right again after I moved him. :(
