I talked to Don Soderberg the breeder i am getting my snake from, and i will be getting my snake next week. He/she is about 20" long and i am going to have to her/him on the down low because i am going to have to keep the little thing in my dorm for about a month. Unless i can convince moms to into watch her/him just for a little while. I am home every weekend and next week is spring break so i will be able to get her/him settled in and fed.

So what would be the minimum size viv for such a snake? I am moving into an apartment at the end of the semester and they don't allow pets. I will have a roommates so i will again will have to keep the snake on the DL.

Any suggestions?

i asked about an aquarium and they were all about that. I also mention that i had reptile and that didn't seem to bother them either. I didn't however tell them it was snake. I think their tune might change if do. Should i just shut up and keep it quite or tell them. Its not like i will have a barking dog or spraying cat. I have also found a viv with really good locks at petsmart.

anyway thanks for any ideas.

You asked, so I have a suggestion. Don't get a snake. It's not worth getting evicted or forced to get rid of the snake.

If you told them that you would have an aquarium with a reptile in it, and they told you that was fine, I can't see why it would be a problem.

I have my snake in the apartment, and there have been no problems. However, I have a backup plan if there are problems. My sister would gladly take the snake in for a while, and there are pet-friendly apartments around.... hard to find, but they exist.

I don't want to see another snake on the market because the "landlord says no" but then again, I am in your same situation, and really I think they are the best apartment pets.... just make sure you have a backup plan in case its "you go or the snake goes" thing.

Just be smart about it- DO NOT let it escape (be very careful about this), and don't parade it about.

I'd recommend a 30 gall long, but a 20 gal long shoudl do just fine.

make sure you have plenty of hides!
