WOOHOOO!

I've been waiting for my PEW to pop out first litter for a little while now. I checked about 5 minutes ago, and we have Mission Accomplished, with 5 cute, little, tiny pinky babies! Have a cigar!!

An Update...

At 2-3days old, my pinkies are starting to display some "colors". The purely pink one is the "runt" of the litter. I think it will be a PEW, since mom was, and she is abolutely perfect pink, and the siblings are dark with pink splotches. There is also a picture of dad...

I have 2 more females that are definately pregnant, and one that is possibly pregnant. These three are sisters and were not quite mature when I started the colony with them and the dad. They are all dark with a grey belly, and here is a picture of the one that is "most pregnant". She'll probably pop in a day or. There is also a picture of mom from the first litter a few days before she gave birth.

It's really cute in there right now. The dad keeps running in and out bringing in seeds and taking out shavings and bedding. All 4 females are inside, taking turns sitting on the pinks, and since 2 of them are visibly pregnant, they are probably helping to nurse. It's a little family...

One more update...

2 new litters early this morning...18 total pinks. Following is a picture of one mom 2 days ago and the hours-old babies...

Hopefully, I can raise three females from this "batch" to adulthood, and start another colony...

Breeding mice became my "other hobby" after I got into snakes. Their genetics are just as fasctinating!

Congratulations on all the babies.
