Need help with a business name...

[Insert Witty Commentary]
I am going to take the plunge and get a Fictitious Business License, so that when I start breeding, I will, hopefully, be able to sell enough snakes to pay for...well...more snakes... . But I am having trouble coming up with a name that suits my fancy.

Some of the ones that have crossed my mind:

Chris's Colubrids
Colorful Colubrids(combining these two is also an option)
Simply Snakes
Kings and Corns(the two I plan on focusing on)
Wizard of Ahhs
Morphs and More
:shrugs: :shrugs:

Any ideas, thoughts or opinions?

All suggestions will be seriously taken into consideration, as this is my first(and hopefully ONLY) effort at this sort of thing...

Thanks Guys and Gals!!

Chris' Colorful Colubrids.. has an interesting ring to it.
Kings & Corns.. I like that, especially if thats what your going to be working with. its simple and to the point

perhaps:
Kingly Colubrids

Simply colubrids
Chris' colubrids
Chris' Korns (Kings & corns)
Korn morphs
Chris' Korns
Unusual colubrids
High flying colubrids
High flying morphs
X S kings & corns
X S Korns
Luna morphs
Golden morphs
Golden colubrids

Ill come up with more eventually...

Definitely not sure of the rules in CA, but here in ND if you use your own name in the name of your business and it's a sole proprietorship you don't actually need the business license . . . Just an FYI that you may want to look into. And, if you haven't already:

As for your name . . . sorry, no help here! You gotta go with what YOU like as it'll represent who YOu are! :)

Thanks for that link. Very interesting.

Here's the thing...I do plan on turning a profit at some point, even so much as to open a storefront dedicated to snakes, eventually. This would mean, according to my boss's CPA, that I should start by immediately tracking my expenses, assets, investments(from my personal accounts to a business account), breeding inventory, and future sales inventory, as well as any new purchases I make should be made from a business specific checking account.

On top of that, I am in the discussion phase with California DFG regarding becoming permitted to "Propogate for sale" native California species(cali kings), and also I'm going to get a permit that will allow me to operate as a live capture and release snake removal technician. Both of these permits *should* be purchased from the business' assets and accounts, not my personal. The snake removal would be a service offered by my business, allowing me to do both businesses under one license.

Des that make sense? In this away, I think I will be required to have a Fictitious Busniness name and license...I think?

I think it's always better to cover your butt when dealing with state or federal regulations. My fictitious name comes due every 5 years and costs $15 (I think) so that's not bad at all. You should be able to find a listing of names already in use on the web somewhere so you would want to check there before making your final decision.

The only name I'd steer clear of would be Simply Snakes. I know there's a BOI "bad guy" post right now. Even though that's the name of the business I purchased Brogan from last month. Once I saw that on the BOI, I knew if ever I were to have a business that is one name I'd stay away from. Good luck with nameing your business and getting it off the ground!

I agree 100%, I jumped through the hoops as well because like Susan said, it's best to cover your butt! You will have to decide what type of business you are going to run. My understanding is that as a sole proprietorship, your business liability is not protected separate from your personal. If you're looking towards an actual storefront you may want to research further the with becoming a company, LLC, etc. I'm no business guy, that's just stuff I uncovered as I was looking for the answers to my questions a couple of years ago! :shrugs:

Good luck and I look forward to hearing your snake rescue/removal stories!

I think I like Kings and Corns the best. King of Colubrids? Do you want it to be permanently tied to your state or county? California Colubrids.

Thanks, everyone, for all of your responses. They are really appreciated. I am making a list, from which I will do a number of google searches, to see if I need to eliminate any off the top. That will help narrow it down some...

Jazzgeek--

I think that one may have been used for something else...

Or you could call it.....
C.H.R.I.S. aka Chris's Herps: Reptiles, Inverts, Snakes

That's terrible I know. Actually I like "King of Corns". Has a nice sound to it and also a nice web address. www.KingofCorns.com (does not exsist yet ;) )
