Ya, I mentioned a long time ago that I was going to be getting a new tat early this year. Well...

I just got this done 2 days before I went into the hospital when I was diagnosed with epilepisy.

(this last photo is right after it was done and just wiped off... of obviously the colors are slightly different healed)
The middle knot that looks like a heart within a heart with the 4 dots was already there... it symbolizes motherhood, the rest of it was add on, below the knot, is a celtic symbol of the Tree of life, behind that... a tree being hit by fall, the exposed roots... a snake :p . It's not done yet... there's detail to come, and above the tree there will be clouds with a sun, below where there are the roots and the snake will be the moon and a nights sky, to one side of my arm there will be some sort of water design and the other side of the tree on the other side of my arm will be a Fire design... ultimately it will cover my forearm.

I'm odd, I think it feels neat. It does hurt... but not in the bad pain kind of way... hmmm hard to explain without sounding completely insane :sidestep:

It looks lovely! I read about your epilepsy troubles on Myspace. How awful. How have things been going for you lately? Are you feeling any better?

*hugs*

The pain is part of the process. You knw that going into it, and can actually be an incredible release...

I have 13 tattoos. Some really nice, some purely "practice"(from when I wrked in a shop). Everyone of them has meaning, and, more importantly, a purpose, at the time that I got them. So the pain is a tradeoff...and depending on the tattoo and what it represents to me, the pain can be cleansing, in a way. It can wear away troubles in your "real life", and make them seem somehow less significant. It can "wash away" past mistakes, and give you a mentally and/or spiritually "clean slate". Or it can be as simple as "the price you pay" for a piece of art. The pain can be whatever you want it to be, but it is ALWAYS part of the process...

I'm getting used to things... things. However one my age should not feel weak, dizzy often, random aches & pains.. etc etc... but it will pass as I get used to the meds. Plus the meds have killed my appetite. I have not FELT hunger since I went into the hospital. There have been days where I am SO busy, while I am preparing dinner for my husband that I realize "yeash... I have'nt eaten today" :eek1: Not SOO bad entirely :grin01: I just gotta watch it  Thanks for asking.

Oh.. and the short term memory loss thing... is getting better... THANK the gods.

Ouch! That's very pretty, but it sure looks like it must have hurt. I hate needles, so no tats for me. ;)

Yeah I know, I am not a fan of needles too. I'm not planning on getting any tattoos either.
I do have to admit Lore that is a real neat looking design you got there!

Before getting my tattoo, I always heard that it was like having a sunburn. I've never agreed with that. It really is a unique pain. Especially over bony areas. ;)

I love the new stuff. Can we get a 'healed' pic to see the actual colors?

I'm glad you're keeping/trying to keep a positive outlook on your treatment. It really makes all the difference.

Because I was in the hospital days after I was unable to care for it as I would like to of. Thus there are areas that are still healing. Once there are no crusties or hard areas left... I'll take a pic.

I always said that I'd never get a tat, but when my daughter was about to go away to University, she begged me to go with her and get a matching tattoo. I finally agreed, and let her pick what we would have done. Now we both have matching dragonflies on the top of our right foot, to the side....looks like it just landed there for a little rest! Mine is green, and hers is pink. It's something we'll always have, just the two of us.
but, now that I've got one, I want another. I'm thinking of a getting a vine on my left breast (near my heart) and entangled in the vines will be the initials of my three children, done just a little darker green than the vine itself.
I know I want the initials, I'm just not 100% on how to present them...any other ideas?

That's very pretty, and striking too! I can't wait for my next one (actually an extension of an existing one) but I just don't have the money at the mo sadly :(

Yvonne - I would say either go to a tattooist for ideas or design your own :) Just sit with a pad and a pencil and sketch! You'll come up with the right design for you.

I'd agree with Tracee. I've got 3 tats now, J9 (My childhood nickname) on the back of my right shoulder, NURSE! (done the day I qualified) on my left shoulder and a private one in a private place. Each has meaning to me, because they're with you forever.

I totally with getting a tat that means something special. That's why I want my childrens initials, I just can't really think of a special way to have them, but I'll keep on thinking....I've been looking on the tattoo sites for ideas. Thanks guys!

If I wasn't so scared of needles and hated pain so much the Tat I've always wanted was one with my 3 kids names in a circle on my left shoulder in my dad's hand writting. His every day writing was more like caligraphy, It's beautiful and I have a poem he wrote out probably 40 years ago with all the letters I would need, but dangit, I'm a big chicken! LOL

It's really not that bad - if it was nobody would do it! Especially not wee girls like me who are self-confessed "allergics" to pain :)

If it's something you really want....do it! I always thought that way as well, but now that I got one, I want another. It's really not all that bad, you can do it!
I think I've found what I'm looking for, It's 3 flowers with a vinelike circle around them, I want to get 2 pink flowers and 1 blue and put the kids initials in the center of each flower !!
