The Blackest Snakes in All of Mehico

Pedro and Inez are '06 Mexican black kingsnakes that I got from Trevor Yehle in a great transaction last year. They're growing like crazy and shedding every 25 minutes, as is usual for young MBKs. ;) He's around 100g now, and she's 10-15g lighter. They hardly ever musk, which is unusual for young MBKs. Sometimes they'll give me a fake strike though, and they like to rattle their tails occasionally-- but nothing serious. :)

Thanks George. :) But actually those are TWO snakes. I can't blame you though; they are nearly identical.

If you could cohab rats and kings, I'd have a leucy rat in every MBK enclosure. I don't know why I don't have a leucistic something yet. I really like leucistic black and Texas rats (non-bug-eyed). :shrugs:

Well... when are you going to make me ever more sad and get some?! Huh!

And in reponse to Georges misunderstanding, didn't the male have a little white patch on his nose or chin?!

Not anytime soon! :grin01:

They both have the typical MBK chin spots. His distinguishing feature is the slight scarring on his nose. You can see it really well in the last pic in the group (close-up of male's face). It's nice and clean, and well-healed, so I think it gives his face some character. It could come in handy someday when I pull both of them out of a breeding tub...

Right, you don't want Pedro standing there scratching his head "I could have sworn I just shed- what does he think I'm going to do with this tub of moss?" Meanwhile, Inez (the GOOD Inez) is starting to sweat- she can't hold 'em in much longer, "When is Dean going to put my laying container in??"

Hah! Funny imagery. :)

What do you mean by "the GOOD Inez"? Is your Inez acting up?

My Inez is the quintessential Milksnake. She musks, she pees, she poos, she thrashes, she tail rattles, she attempts to fly. I've seen her out from hiding maybe three or four times since November. She kills her FT pinks and eats like a maniac. I love my little Inez, and wouldn't trade her for anything, but I was just thinking the other day- a typical milksnake would be a horrible first/only snake for a beginning snake keeper. It would be so discouraging compared to a nice friendly handleable corn or king.

Ohhhh. Yeah, that new Honduran is a typical milk too. He bit my sister, he's very thrashy in hand, and he seems quite willing to "jump" from any height. No musking though. I haven't seen him above the aspen since I got him. I've hardly seen him at all except when I fed him. It's kind of sad, since he looks so different from all of my other snakes. I'd like to actually SEE him. I have to resort to looking at the photos I've taken of him when I want to look at him. :(

Yep, still scary :grin01:
C'mon, you can't be serious! Look at those sweet faces. I'll tell you what's scary-- that 35 kilo "creamzilla" you have at your house. :grin01:

'Creamzilla', he's like that! :)
I think I've just realised what it is about MBKs that bothers me..looking at the belly scales - they remind me of millipedes!

.......errrr, I'll leave now :uhoh:

i just cannot stop looking at them,,both of them,,

what i want to do is shoot you :twoguns:, and take them away :grin01:, hehehehe, just kidding roy :wavey:

Dean, how old is the new Honduran? Everyone swears they grow out of that secretiveness by the time they are three or four.

Bram: Thanks... I think. ;)

Terri: Thanks! Good to see you around. :) They're cool snakes. Carol and Trevor (lefty_mussolini) produce some nice ones.

I don't actually know his age (or "his" sex, for that matter). I have him in my records as an '05, but he could be an '06. So he's probably got a year or two of secretiveness left...

Handsome snakes Dean...

Maybe I need to herp in the pet stores and classifieds. :grin01:
