Feeding in tank vs out??

From looking around the internet i get a lot of opinions on where you should feed your corn. Some say you should feed in a something else other than the tank so they don't associate the opening of the tank with meal and grab your hand by mistake. Some say it doesn't really matter?? what do you guys think?? thnx in advance

I think there's some truth about the sankes learning that every time the your hand goes on the cage they think it's food. But I feed my snakes in thier tanks anyway. I take them out a lot too, and they do usually "sniff" me to see what I am.

Well I think it depends, when I was using Aspen substrate(or any other substrate they can ingest) I fed in rubbermaids. Now I use paper towels and I have fed several times in their cages. I personally don't think that I will do that much because I did notice some added excitement from them when I went to get them out and I would rather they stay calm and docile while we handle them. Also I noticed that they fed much more agressively in the bins. I think it's because they know 100% of the time that when they get put in there food follows, they really have no "warning" when I just toss it in thier cages.
One of my guys constricts really violently and he spilled his water, trashing all of his beding and drentching his expensive cereal box hide! This made alot more work for me than putting him in another box.

Thats my opinion anyway.

BTW- I know I can't spell for anything so sorry about the sp. errors!

I feed out of the tank simply to avoid ingestion of substrate. if you use paper towel or something similar I guess it wouldn't matter as much.

i have always fed in the tank and have never had ne troubles w/ it personaly the only closest thin gis when i feed sheba a dead mouse she watches my hands cause thats the only movement and she smells the mouse on them so i just drop it in and take my hand out or i hold the mouse by the tail and wiggle it around till she stricks at it.

If you're snake's the really timid type who bunkers down in her hide all the time, sure feed her in the cage, since she's not going to see you open the cage anyway and she might feed more willingly. What I do is just put the pinkie in front of her favorite hide and she usually smells it and peeks out and nabs it. Plus if you're going to handle her, she knows the hide goes up, and she gets ready to be handled, so she associates the hide going up with being handled (hopefully this changes as she get's older). For the more "social" types, I feed outside in a rubbermaid, and I place the mouse inside the rubbermaid and wash my hands before I get the snake out. Pretty much prevents all feeding type bites.
