I got the baby tarantula on Tuesday. It is now Thursday and it is dead.
I really screwed up without even realizing it.
I keep a large tub of mulch handy for when I need to change the substrate in the cages here so I grabbed a bunch of that and put it in the T's cage since it was dry already and I heard they don't like too much humidity.
What I forgot was that substrate gets sprayed with PAM whenever I add more to make sure there are no unwanted guests in it when I go to use it.
I completely forgot about this and basically put the T in a death cage.
I feel like crap and my son is devastated. I finally got him one of these and I kill it in less than 2 days. This was not intentional and just a very stupid mistake but needless to say, it's a bit rough here tonight.
I still can't believe I did something so stupid.
 
We have all done something (many things in my case) stupid in dealings with animals... shoot life in general. Chalk this one up to lesson learned. Sorry for the loss... even though I am not fond of the hairy things!
 
yah i also tend to do riciculously stupid things yours wasnt even as bad as half as mine i forgot to feed my hamster then it died im the worst for forgetting so don't feel so bad everybody makes there mistakes and some worse then others and you wont learn until you make mistakes so its all gravy and sorry for your loss
 
That's too bad. But at least you know what the cause of death was- it isn't some mystery. You won't repeat that mistake. I'm sorry about the baby. That sucks so much, though- I'd feel awful if it happened to me.

That is what my Mommy always tells me, and those are a wise bunch of words. The positive side to this is you KNOW what you did wrong, at least you didn't just sit there and think what happen.(Sorry if this is confusing) Once again sorry for your loose.
 
I'm Very sorry about your T, Everyone make's mistakes, If you Get another one, Then I wish you the best of luck : )

Sorry for your loss. We all make mistakes... it's a part of being human, though I guess that knowledge doesn't ease the loss of the animal any.

All you can do is put it down to experience... good luck if you do decide to get another T.
 
So sorry. Like everyone said, don't beat yourself up over it. Everyone at one time or another has done something stupid. I forgot to feed a pair of breeding zebra finches, I gave the water but forgot food for several days in a row, and I found them dead.

It will be a lesson learned.
