Would this be cruel? Or would it work?

I don't know much about husbandry of scorpions, but it seems to me that if you can meet all of the environmental needs of the animal in THAT tub, then yes, it would be humane. It is humane to keep snakes in tubs that meet their needs, but it would be inhumane to keep a large adult female in a plastic "shoebox," because it does not meet her size requirements. So I would say research the needs of the animal first, and then decide. Do they require humidity? If so, it would be great! If they are from dry areas, it might be hard to ventilate it adequately without replacing a significant portion of the top with mesh. And remember, security will be a concern, you would not want the scorpion to get out and your baby bro to find it.

I agree with Hypancistrus.

I will only add that *most* scorpions are from arid and semi-arid locations, so you may want to consider cutting half of the top away and affixing some sort of mesh or small-wire screen in place to provide more ventilation and allow moisture from the water dish to escape. I don't know about them specifically as regards husbandry requirements, but I know that I live in the desert and they are everywhere, and are most common in desertous areas...

Thanks ty : )

I'm probably going to just turn up tomorrow, ask to hold one, see if i like it, if i do, come home and do research, if not just scrap the idea and stick to my "goldfish and of course my little baby Damien" :p

I have seen people use pop rivets to attach screen to a hole cut in the lid. I myself have used hot glue for my DIY froglet housing.
