I like being well prepared:

And the temporary home for the weekend since when I should be picking it up I will be out of state.

...yes that's the same hide and water dish I moved it for the picture :grin01:

I'm going to a show. I'm suprised you forgot since I mention it every five seconds... :sidestep:

Oh and yes I realize there's no thermometer/probe etc in that picture.
I just ordered the thermosat, thermometer, and uth for $42 shipped.

Do you know what you're getting, or are you just going to decide when you see it?

Well whenever I go out with the intention to buy a pet I don't often tend to come home with what I had in mind. But I am going to look for:
Amels
Bloodred
Lavendar
Candy Cane
Creamsicle
Opal
Reverse Okeetee
Snow (bubblegum)

I'd like to think that I would be able to find one of those :crazy02:
But of course if I find a snake I'm in love with I don't care the color.

Looks good!!

I might've said it before, but it really is great to see how well-prepared you are. I can tell you're really excited. :) So good luck getting your perfect first corn!

Working at petco has really wisened me up to pet care. I mean certaintly every pet that has come through my door has been researched, but normally not thouroughly as I should have.
I see so many animals everyday either come back into the store to be adopted...or replaced because "oh it suddenly died" I don't want to be like those people. I've never had a reptile before and I want to be as well prepared as possible. I've bought 2 books now, plus read...gosh knows how many posts here, as well as all of the FAQs. In addition to other online articles. :crazy02:

It's good to be prepared. :)
I had my tank set up a week ago, in preparation for my girl's arrival today, and it's a good thing I did, because I found out the uth I got was not warm enough, and even if it was, because of the temps where I live an uth heater alone would have done nothing for the "cool" side being 15 degrees too cold. I spent a good couple days just trying to adjust the tempuratures right.

I'm still shocked by the number of people who only seem to research pets 'after' they've bought them... :(

Hehehe! I had my tank set up almost three weeks before the snake actually came. It gave me an idea of what the temps were going to be like and many day dreams of my new pet as I sat staring into the empty tank :grin01: I seriously couldn't sleep the two days before I got him. And a year later I have four snakes =O! This hobby is an addiction, I have more plans of expanding in the future!

I am glad you took the time to research all the facts on snakes before you got one. I used to work in a petstore too (Petland) and they didn't know half of what they needed to keep most reptiles alive for most of their expected lifetime. Me and one guy had an argument...he tried telling me my little anery was infact an okeetee phase because "google" told him so :grin01: I had seen many animals die due to someone's lack of information and what made it worse is that they didn't want to learn what other people brought to them.

So I wish you the best on your little guy or gal, whatever you may choose! I am sure it will be in good hands! And take many pictured for us to see :)

Well I've got a thermometer monitoring what will be the cold side.
My thermometer with probe, UTH, and thermostat got shipped today :D will be here in 2-3 and the reptile show is 16 days away. Gives me time to get it allll set up ^_^

Instead of making a new topic I would just like to say that the habitat is completely set up now :D
The UTH Thermostat and thermometer with probe arrived promptyl 3 days after I ordered from reptilesupply.com $42 out the door with shipping, I love it.

Everything is hooked up and it working order and as of this morning my warm side was 85.5* and as I was getting ready to leave to work it dropped down to 84.3* and then my thermostat kicked back in.

Sooo now all I need is the snake in....11 days! :crazy02:

What thermometer did you get?

Just wait till tomorrow when Lila gets here and I post pics of her coolest set-up ever! My new thermometers came with a bunch of free gifts that I have no use for, like weird bulbs and a fake rock water dish, but one thing that I wouldn't have bought myself but like now that I have it is a free-standing plant on a heavy rock. So Lila's home is even more jungley than ever.

Get a lavender! Seriously :p

Great wee setup. I used to use those exo terra plastic tubs for yearlings. But @ £15 each I switched to really useful boxes. They do look great though!

Who you calling wee :p
It looks smaller than it really is because of the tiny pictures but it can hold about 10 gallons. It used to be my hermit crab set up but I moved them to the 15 qt so that I didn't have to drill holes in it (I just leave it partially open for the crabs cause they can't crawl up the plastic)
FYI though, lavander is on my list of snakes to look out for, but you've gotta promise not to ask me to mail it to you if I get one ;)

Nanci that's awesome that you got all sorts of free goodies with it, where did you order it from? I wish reptile supply had sent me free goodies :(
I got this one from zoomed, very nice and cheap too! :D

*does her little 11 more days dance*

I wish I could edit my posts.
Nanci- I also meant to say that I can't wait to see little Lila in her new home :D

Oh and I also bought a pack of binder clips for extra security on the cage :grin01:

That's a cute little thermometer! You'll have to let us know how dependable it turns out to be. Big Apple Herp is who sends the free gifts. But usually it's light bulbs. What am I going to do with a black light or whatever it is, and a basking lamp. Keep them as spares for the tortoises, I guess. Anyway, they have different price points of free stuff.
