SMR SG Corn Snake "Rogue"
I wont have food for him until the 2nd of may which also happens to be my fiancee's birthday. I've heard they can go for a month without a meal.

He'll be OK wont he? I feel bad for him strolling his viv hunting for food and not finding any...

If your snake was a hatchling, I'd say that you were pushing it. But if I recall correctly, your snake is at least two feet, so this should be ok. However, you should get in a weekly routine. A two foot corn has a lot of growing to do, and I wouldn't recommend feeding it less frequently than weekly.

He'll be fine, just make sure he has enough water. Yeah corns can go about one month or more without food. Good luck, and have fun with what ever you're doing.

he's a big boy and i will be feeding him weekly i just havent gotten the mice yet.

they will be in on the 2nd :) thanks for letting me know though.

I saw the pics after I posted in this thread. He's a very nice looking sunglow. :) But I wouldn't call him a big boy. He looks a little "slender" to me. That'll change after you have start feeding him regularly.

A fuzzy, I think your snake can take down two hoppers. Mine is about half that size and takes down a regular mouse easily.

Might want to go up a bit? I don't have Dean's feeding chart, but I'm sure if you need it he can post it?? (Sorry if I'm throwing you in this Dean)

Also as Dean said, he does look a little slender for his size. Try with just one hopper or something, sorry about last comment didn't really look at size. Well good luck.

I don't know about that. The photos I've seen don't give me enough of an idea of his weight or girth to make a suggestion. He's better off going with the 1.5x snake's girth rule for prey-size. In addition, I'm not into offering multiple prey-item meals. I'd rather up the feeding frequency than do this. Others do things differently...

The chart is stickied on the first page of the personal forum I share with Matt/jzal8 (Roy and Jzal8's Serpent Lounge). :)

As a point of reference here, take a look at ball pythons. Our adult ball at the zoo just took down two rats on Friday after ignoring all food for the better part of 8 months. Yes, it's good to get into a feeding routine, but a healthy adult snake can go without food for longer than you'd think. My adult corn just came off of a 1 month fast because he's extra super reproductively excited at the moment...
