May need to order mice online, if you ever have please read!

Been here awhile
I have bought my mice at the white plains expos. Unfortunately I do not have enough to get me to the next show and the vendor I used website is down completely. I hate to switch the kids to brand new kind again as they all are eating well ;) But I have to do what I have to do. So who is the most reputable company, average priced, plump and clean specimens with good packaging? Thanks for any help! :crazy02:

Without a doubt: The Mouse Factory.

I wouldn't suggest using anyone else. I've used Rodent Pro and Big Cheese Rodents and TMF has blown them both away.

Hey Joe... what do mean by "blown them both away". Are you talking about price, quality, shipping, customer service, ... ? I'm only asking out of curiousity. I've only bought online 3 or 4 times but it's always been from Rodent Pro and I've always been happy with my order. I don't have any experiences with other companies so maybe I'm missing out. :shrugs:

I've used all three and order from Big Cheese. The Mouse Factory is my favorite, but most often can't afford them. I don't see a difference between the health and size of Big Cheese Rodents and The Mouse Factory. Big Cheese mice are clean but The Mouse Factory mice are without spot and without smell. So often I'm not willing to pay a couple hundred dollard more for the small difference. As far as Rodent Pro, I HATE *HATE* their packaging. The quality of animals and their cleanliness have been all across the board and I just prefer going with a company that I know will have good product every time.
For the average owner that just has a few to feed and has to share their personal freezer with their snakes I'd go with the Mouse Factory. For those who are feeding a larger group, Big Cheese has a great product as well.

Absolutely. I send in an order every month, and am always happy with the quality of the mice and how well packed, both in the vacuuming and for shipping.

I'm talking about quality, shipping, and customer service. You're going to pay more for a great product, but after trying Big Cheese on my last order I'll be going back to TMF.

While there was nothing 'wrong' with Big Cheese rodents, I had more than a few 'almost decapitated' adult mice, ears routinely falling off while being thawed, and they also had a noticeable stink to them. Perhaps I'm just being picky, but I never experienced those problems with anything from TMF. I've also noticed that just about everything that TMF offers is quite a bit bigger than other companies. I'm finding out that TMF's fuzzies are just about the same size as Big Cheese's hoppers. In fact, I found a package of TMF fuzzies last week I didn't know that I had---and I thawed those with some hoppers from Big Cheese----I had some problems figuring out which was which as far as size went.

So to me, I'd rather pay the few extra bucks and get a product that is packaged immaculate, has no smell and never has any bedding included. Perhaps I'm just being picky like I said, but they have yet to disappoint and imo have blown away everyone else.

Ya get whatcha pay for.

FWIW, I pulled out what was in my freezer from TBC and took some pics. :)

Never had decapitated heads unless I dropped a frozen bag. :shrugs:

I say you can't go wrong with either company but if the smell of mouse bothers you TMF has the least amount of smell. I find TBC satisfactory and Rodent Pro mice are just stank. Mice Direct.... :puke02:

On another note, I do remember some people saying that TMF mice were so clean that some of their snakes refused to eat them because of the lack of smell. So it may not be the best company to go with to get hatchlings started. I never had that problem with established feeders myself.:shrugs:

I want to thank everybody for your help! Where ever I do order from, I am going t just get enough to last me till Julys show. I hate switching foods, thats when you find your picky feeders or should I say stubborn. At any rate, thank you all very much and special thanks to you Carol for the pics, they helped alot! Thank you, Lindsay

Just for comparison's sake....

There are 13 mice here--what size are they, and what company produced them?

What I like about Big Cheese is they will guarantee their two-day shipping, but TMF doesn't. For those of us on tight budgets feeding not so many snakes, shipping is the real killer, not the price of the mice. I don't care at all if the mice are a little smaller as long as I can get the shipping down. $25 is a lot better than $60 on an order total of $40 or $50. I recently split an order with others from TMF. The product was great, but I didn't notice a difference in quality from Big Cheese (I can't say whether the size differs because I got stuff I'd not gotten before). And since there weren't enough people going in on the order, it actually cost me more than the same order would've from Big Cheese, and it was delivered an hour's drive from my door instead of two steps outside it. If you use two-day shipping from Big Cheese, you could store those mice in a cooler for another couple of days with no problem. Not so with an overnight order from TMF. I realize that overnight shipments aren't meant to be stored in coolers, but I just can't see paying overnight shipping with less flexibility on the receiving end for so much more money. I can't see it on my phenomenal graduate student salary, anyway.

Looks to be three hoppers and the rest weaned. If they're supposed to be the same size, someone needs new glasses.

Actually those 3 are TMF fuzzies. The other 10 are Big Cheese hoppers. The smallest BC hopper was 5.1 grams, the biggest was 10.1.

Those 3 TMF fuzzies ranged from 6 to 8.1 grams.
