Rogue - good news.

SMR SG Corn Snake "Rogue"
Rogue and I are getting along fine I just had a VERY VERY bad two days . got in a wreck got a two tickets and then got a point loss at my job for just being 2 min late..

Things in my life did a 180 for about 2 1/2 days then turned right back around and I was very upset because I thought for some reason I was on the up hill for awhile when i've allrdy done that and wanted to do the down hill..

really this has nothing to do with rogue. My mental state lately has just been crappy. It's hard not to be depressed about not getting paid very much to guard the Gettysburg Address and having tons of bills.

It's just been one of those weeks and I threw up and opened my mind on the forums..

I am wearing gloves though to get me used to him and I really doubt I can sell him he's too cute. hell he goes upside down on the top of his viv like he's on the ground. really strange...

The only issue I have is he makes a strange sound once and awhile and I'm not sure if he's hissing or if he's breathing or if he has a problem.. doesn't seem to though.. Sorry for being such a retard. I'm sure you'll flame me some more but oh well.. thanks for all that helped me anyways :)

:shrugs: I don't get the "glove" thing ??,what are you afraid of ?.If your concerned about catching something from him, then wash your hands when your done handling him,,yes, its that simple :crazy02: ,,but I must say over the years, and even to this day,,I pick up ANY critter I come across,,my kids too.I make sure they know that an unwarranted fear is useless.Give all things respect,(some a bit more than others  )and you will always enjoy all the creatures you share this planet with.
NOW,,if the gloves are to prevent being bitten,or the little "ouchy" that comes along with it,well then I guess thats a matter of personal preference.
Good luck

Good thing you live up north and not down here in the south. Picking up a couple of cottonmouths or half grown skunks (which I DO come across very regularly) would break you of the habit of picking up ANY critter.....lol. Besides, wildlife SHOULD be left pretty much, well, wild, right?
:dgrin:

I'm glad to hear it, buddy.

I know well the curve balls life can throw at you. To me, my snakes and lizards are what helps me hit those curve balls right back at whoever threw them. They're my pride and joy in a pretty mundane life.

Hopefully you'll find solace in them much like I do. Hopefully one day, you'll look forward to going home after a crappy day at work, because you got little critters at home who are waiting to see you. :D

Good luck with Rogue. I'm sure you'll do just fine.

So glad to hear you're back with us Glock. Hope that things pick up for you and that in the meantime, Rogue provides you with some much-needed distraction.

I'm a great fan of using gloves if that's how you get comfortable with handling. After 16 years of Corn owning, I still have one I won't go near without them!

Welcome back!

I agree with Matthew. After my heart surgery, and my wife had to go back to work, I would have gone crazy without my animals. Some days I wouldn't have got out of bed if it weren't for having to feed the dogs and clean vivs. I have lots of jobs that bored me silly and lots of bosses that irritated me, but looking forward to my day off and the next show or next acquisition made it easier.

I saw a CNN report on aging recently that gave three essentials for aging well:

Have something to do every day. My pets always keep me busy.
Have something to look forward to. Visit your next local reptile show.
Keep friends and family close. This forum is a great place to visit and meet new people.

I'm happy to hear that things are better for you. 26 is way too young to get discouraged.

I am glad things are better for you this week GLock, and THANK YOU for guarding our Gettysburg Address. Clearly your not seeing a financial reward for it, and that is awful, but I appreciate having some of our country's sacred history protected by you.

Best wishes

Dawn

if you guard the address then youre exposed to more things at work. if youre afraid of getting bit then theres nothing to worry about, cs bites are nothing. youre in fair more danger at work.

Glad to hear things are better! Lack of money is stressful. I have $2 left out of my check- I got paid today. I know the feeling!

Pets reduce stress and blood pressure and even migraine headaches! You just need to spend some quality time with your snake. Seriously.

hey just look at it this way....once rogue gets nice and big if you really need the money then you can sell her and get a little lump of change.....haha I'm just playing...but good luck with her

Glad you have decided to keep her. You deffinately were happy to get her and i hope you always feel happy to have her.

Hope the annoying things in life get better for you.

Glad things are getting better for you, and I dont want to hastle you but just make sure you take in consideration of your snakes well being next time, if you feel you want to keep him, thats great, but try not to change your mind in a few month..

George.

YAY!! I'm glad to hear your keeping your buddy..I know the feeling of not having much money..I'm lucky if I'm left with 20.00 to myself after all bills are paid and animals have everything they need...I also work in the security field..unfortunately I don't gaurd a historic monument...but I do gaurd a mall (hehehe come on everyone needs malls right??!!)...So I do know the pressures of work....either way...glad to hear you've decided to give another go! snakes will always be there at your house waiting for you to get home, wagging their tails and licking your face (wait.....ah...shoot I went into the wrong pet...lol) well snakes will always help you feel better :0) :grin01: :grin01: :wavey:

First let me say thank you so much for the job you do protecting such an important document.
As for the gloves, go for it lots of people have admitted to using gloves on here. I do many times when I first get a snake out, unitl they calm down and I know I have a hold of the snake. I do because I am afraid I will not hold still and rather jerk back causing mouth damage to the snake if it strikes.
As for depression and animals, let me say at this time the snakes are the only reason I move some days, I know they need me to check them and change their water. No kidding. Hope things start looking up for you, until they do, know you are not alone. susan

THANKS a lot everyone I really am greatfull f or all your support.

I keep hearing a strange sound from rogue now and am trying to figure out what it could be.. I'm thinking maybe he's going to shed and it's his skin?

I just don't want him to get a URI and am not sure. The vet here charges $75 min to look at him and thats a lot to me right now. If anyone here is a vet or knows how to check for URI please let me know. I'm not sure about his eyes right now cuz they went red does that mean a shed .. I mean he's albino so I got no clue lol.. I'm still sorta in the dark.

I've been picking him up and tailing him a little bit but trying to support him. Even with gloves on i'm still head shy.. I think i'm thinking.. he'll bite my arm haha.. it's all mental and right now I'm ... pretty much MENTAL.. (lol)

I have a friend at work that has corn snakes and she said it does hurt so it's got me a little teeth shy heh. "lots of needle like teeth and it DOES hurt"

I'm also going to fed him a full size mouse because I think he can take one.

Thanks again for your posts it meant a lot..

Just remember the tighter you hold him, especially toward his head, the more afraid he's going to be. If you are relaxed, he'll be relaxed. And after you have him out five minutes, and he hasn't bitten you, he's 99% not going to.

NAnci

It sounds as though your snake might be ready to shed. They sometimes make clicking, raspy noises before it. Keep an eye on him though. I'm glad things are working out for you.
