humidity!!

Nomed

Aimez le monstre.
The past few days its been really humid here (just ask my hair yuck) anyway my babys viv is like 70 and i just fed him lastnight.

I reduced the water, and he seems ok but its still I'm a little conserned.

Is there anything i can do to help reduce the humidity? Also what problems can rise from this?
Is 70 high enough for scale rot? :[[

please help

thanks in advance,
Nomed

you could try moving the water bowl in your vivarium to the cold side more, that sometimes helps, also is there anyway you can increase the ventilation in the vivarium more? Also heat lamps can dehumidify, but you need to be carefull of raising temperatures too high.

Eventuall if exposed to high humidity levels corns can get repiratory problems. If it stays very hunid in your viv for long, then kep a close eye pn the mouth of your corn, and liten out occasionally for any strange clicks or gurgling when your corn is breathing.

Im sure your snake will be fine, and wont suffer much from temporarily raised humidity levels

TW hit most of the points pretty well, imo.

Move the water bowl away from the hot side if you can. Increase airflow if you can. Depending on what type of enclosure you have, it could be as simple as getting a cheap battery powered fan from Wal-Mart (or somewhere similar) and letting it run through the tank for a couple hours.

As for problems, well...they'll do fine with temporary high humidity. Over time, respiratory infection can and probably will occur.

As for scale rot, as far as I know as long as your substrate stays dry, ambient humidity won't cause scale rot. I could be wrong on that, but I think the primary cause is damp/wet banding for extended periods of time.
