This is prob a stupid question but.....

Can someone be allergic to snakes. lol I find after I haves Anubis out and put bk, then washes i get itchy. and its always my hands and arms and in between my fingers that i gets itchy. it only lasts for bout half hour or so then stops. I didnt' change soap or anything. was just wondering if it could be from the snake or just some spring time thing. lol

I don't know about snakes themselves, but I have heard of people being allergic to the shed skins.

Could it be the substrate your using? Maybe small particles of substrate are rubbing off the snake onto your hands!

No worries dude. Good luck

It's normally the proteins in saliva that people are allergic to with animals. Since snakes don't groom or lick I'd think it would be difficult to have an allergy to them....although anything is possible...

It must be the substrate. I had Anubis out again last nite <yea i'm majorly addicted> and soon as i put him back i started to icth. When that bag is gone Im gonna switch to paper towels until he gets older. I will just have to deal with it then. lol

I have an idea. Take some of the substrate, right out of the bag, and rub it on your arms, and see if you start itching. Seriously. That way you could rule out Anubis being the cause.

He he i know how u feel, i get mine out quite frequently. As long as you give them some time to digest their meal (24-48 hours, until no visible lump) it shouldn't really matter too much.

I wait 48 hrs for him to digest and then BAM hes out and in my hands. lol He is so calm and relaxed when he is out. I dont have him out for very long but starting to keep him out bit longer each time. He dont 'mind it at all. I am glad he is so comfortable with me. How long do you keep them out for after they really gets use to you and etc. I only have Anubis out for bout 10 mins max. And dont' wnat to put him bk when the time is up.

I think you could keep him out 30 minutes now if he's so relaxed. Especially if you spend some of that with him being calm and not moving.

Besides needing another snake, you need to start breeding mice!
