3 months since his escape, we found Mordecai!

This is pretty exciting, my first corn snake (from Oct 05) had escaped from his sterolite bin while I was on holidays back in February. After months of searching and praying finally he showed up today sitting on top of our VCR wedged under our entertainment stand. I'm pretty excited right now. He's went from 340g down to 245g so he'll need to be fattened up here, also he's not doing much moving and he feels very very week right now. I gave him a big drink and a smaller sized mouse that he's very slowly eating right now.
I took a size comparison with another of my '06s (probably gravid) that was the same size as him 3 months ago, see the difference.

He actually looks pretty good! Not really that thin at all. He's probably a bit dehydrated so it's really good that he drank. Get him warm and give him lots of peace and quiet and he should be just fine. I really like it when a wayward snake is found! It's a terrific boost to all the other people that have lost a snake and think it's too late to find it.

Good news. I echo the give him plenty of food, rest and especially water. I'd leave him be for a bit too. So glad he's home safe!

WOW,,3 months lost,,they are definitely survivors.He's a big snake to be hidding in the house.You would think he would show himself at one time or another.Masters at keeping out of sight,too..

Thats cool At least you know you don't have any mice around your house now. He probably ate them all.

cool! a friend of mine lost his in march, he keeps finding shed skins, i dont know whats more worrying, losing the snake or knowing you have a mouse problem big enough to feed him lol

my "Lightning" was missing 3 months when found also...

So now all we have to do is wait for Hannah to come home.

When mine escaped she was still very small,,around 14".Well,28 days later she turned up in my basement.She was a little thinner and very cold.
How she made from the second floor to the basement is still a mystery...

This is not the first time Mordecai has escaped. He got out when he was about 14 inches as well. I had put him in an old fish tank with a flip top lid and said quite confidently "He can't get out of that". Two days later he was gone. It was a hard way to learn that reptiles need a locking lid. I found him about ten days later on a heat mat I had put out with his old hide on top of it. This was back in Nov '05. I've since learned much about keeping snakes. He escaped twice since then when I left his cage open but was always found on the window cill just beside his cage. This last time I had not given up hope, but I was not expecting to find him, I figured he was kitty chow by then.

Before I had corn snakes I used to use poison to keep mice under control. Now with the risk of an escape I've stopped because I don't want my snakes eating a poisoned mouse.
